Compliance & Safety Standards

Last updated June 2026

Triply operates as a Transportation Network Company (TNC) in Connecticut and holds its driver-partners to verified safety, insurance, and conduct standards.

1. Driver screening

Every driver-partner completes identity verification and a background screening that includes a multi-state/national criminal records check and a sex-offender registry check, plus a motor-vehicle (DMV) driving-record check. Drivers must clear screening before activation and are re-screened periodically.

2. Vehicle safety inspection (14-point)

Before driving, every vehicle must pass a 14-point safety inspection: foot brakes; parking/emergency brake; steering; headlights; tail/brake lights; turn signals & hazards; tires (tread & condition); horn; windshield & wipers; rear-view and side mirrors; operable windows; seat belts for all seats; interior & exterior door handles; and bodywork/exhaust with no safety hazards. Valid registration and insurance are required.

3. Insurance

Rides are covered by commercial transportation-network insurance across the applicable coverage periods (app on and waiting, en route to pickup, and during the trip), in addition to the driver’s personal auto policy as required by Connecticut law.

4. In-app safety features

Pre-match disclosures (upfront price, driver name, vehicle and plate once matched), live GPS trip tracking, trip sharing with trusted contacts, an in-app emergency option, and digital receipts for every trip.

5. Zero-tolerance & non-discrimination

Triply enforces a zero-tolerance drug-and-alcohol policy for drivers and prohibits discrimination against any protected class. Drivers must accommodate service animals under the ADA. Violations result in suspension or permanent deactivation.

6. Records, retention & audits

Triply maintains driver, vehicle, insurance, inspection, trip, and tax records for the periods required by law and makes them available for regulatory review and audit. Driver and trip records are retained for at least three years.

7. Taxes

Driver-partners are independent contractors responsible for their own taxes; Triply issues a Form 1099-NEC where required and maintains the corresponding records.
